Georgia Firefighters Battle Heavy Involvement And Save A House

RINGGOLD, Georgia - Monday, April 14,2008 - 5:40 pm - Catoosa County Firefighters were alerted of an out building fire at 270 McDonald Road off Highway 41. Within minutes, Catoosa Quint 3 arrived on the scene and confirmed a garage structure fully involved with heavy impingement into a nearby house. Quint 3's crew quickly pulled an inch and 3/4 hose line and started a primary attach on the fire that was threatening the house. Within seconds, crews were able to stop the traveling flames from damaging the home any further.

Firefighters with Tanker 3 and Engine 1 arrived in short order and assisted with pulling a second inch and 3/4 hose line. Crews rapidly gained a knock down on the garage fire and just minutes after the the first engine had arrived the fire was in check. Crews continued to wet down the hot spots for about thirty minutes with a layer of foam.

The cause of the fire has not officially been determined although the own said he had been burning in a wood stove and believed it may have gotten out into the building somehow. There were residents at home in the house, but fortunately firefighters were able to get them out quickly. Damage to the house was minimal.
