Fort Oglethorpe Fire Crews Work A Morning House Fire

FORT OGLETHORPE, Georgia - Sunday, August 10,2008 - 2:30 am - Fort Oglethorpe Firefighters were alerted of a possible residential structure fire on Austin Circle. Within minutes the first engine company arrived on the scene and confirmed a working structure fire. Firefighters quickly pulled and inch and 3/4 hose line and started a primary interior attack on the fire.

Additional fire crews arrived on the scene momentarily and joined in the fire attack. One of the arriving companies brought a supply line from a nearby fire hydrant. With a water supply in place and a primary attack well on it's way crews quickly gained the upper hand on the fire. Although the fire had already broke through the roof, crews were able to put the fire in check and save a large potion of the contents.

The family was said to have been home at the time of the fire, however they did make it out of the home uninjured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Red Cross was called to assist the family.
