CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Sunday, July 25,2010 - 6:10 pm - Several emergency crews
with the City Of Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS
responded to a reported accident with injuries and entrapment on Lee
Highway. Several rescue units arrived on the scene in short order and
reported a motorcycle and a Jeep had collided in the 6300 block of Lee
Highway, at the intersection of Highway 153. Within minutes of the call
several on scene reports indicated that a motorcyclist was not breathing and
rescuers were performing Trauma CPR. Meanwhile fire crews were working to
free the passenger of the Jeep.
Rescuers had to cut the passengers door off the Jeep to free one of the
victims. Two other people were also in the Jeep, the driver and another
passenger. Those two were also injured in the crash. The passenger that had
to be extricated was said to have had very serious injuries and was rushed
to Erlanger Medical Center. The other two people in the Jeep were said to
have had rather minor injuries, they were also transported to Erlanger
Medical Center. The motorcyclist unfortunately succumb to his injuries.
Witnesses said the motorcycle was
traveling north on Lee Highway and the Jeep was headed south making a left
hand turn onto Highway 153 South when the crash occurred. At this time City
of Chattanooga Police are still investigating to determine which vehicle may
have been at fault for the crash.
