CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Tuesday, August 31,2010 - 5:00 pm - City of Chattanooga
Firefighters and Medics with Hamilton County EMS responded to an accident
with multiple injuries at the intersection of Main Street and Carter Street.
When the first rescue unit arrived they reported a three car crash with 7 or
more people injured. Seconds later the first medic unit arrived on the scene
and quickly requested two additional ambulances to respond.
Witnesses said the crash occurred when one of
the vehicles traveling south on Carter Street ran the stop sign, colliding
with a vehicle traveling east on Main Street. Another vehicle on the other
side of the intersection was also struck during the collision. Witnesses
also said that there was another crash less than two hours prior to this
crash.
Several of the patients transported to the
hospital were children. All of the children were traveling in the same
vehicle and fortunately none of them were believed to have any serious
injuries. They were all transported by Hamilton County EMS to T. C.
Thompsons Children's Hospital. Several other adults were also transported by
Hamilton County EMS to Erlanger Medical Center with non-life threatening
injuries. In all 9 people were transported. The crash is still under
investigation by the City Of Chattanooga Police.
