CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Saturday, August 29,2009 - 9:00 am - City of Chattanooga
Firefighters and medics with Hamilton County EMS were dispatched with City
of Chattanooga Police Officers to a reported crash on the exit ramp from
I-24 Westbound and Rossville Blvd. When emergency crews arrived on the scene
they reported a semi tractor trailer overturned on the shoulder of the exit
ramp. Crews quickly checked on the truck driver. Fortunately the truck
driver had only minor bumps and bruises. He refused to be transported to the
hospital. Now it was time for the
police to take over and start their investigation, however they realized
they were going to need some large recovery wreckers to clear this scene.
Chattanooga Police officers immediately called Doug Yates Wrecker Service to
the scene. Within minutes, the first Yates Wrecker was on the scene, moments
later followed by another. The wrecker crew quickly went to work under the
direction of Doug Yates Himself. A strap here and a chain there and shortly
after the large Extreme Recovery unit had the semi up on it's wheels.
The ramp was entirely cleared of the
wreckage and debris by 10:45 am. One bystander said "When you know what to
do and how to do it right it doesn't take long". The cause of the crash is
still under investigation by the City Of Chattanooga Police.
