CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Saturday, January 22,2011 - 6:20 pm - City of
Chattanooga Firefighters with Engine 20 and medics with Hamilton County EMS
responded to a reported accident with injuries in the 2000 Block of Cummings
Highway. Dispatchers advised emergency crews to use extreme caution
approaching the scene due to ice in the roadway. Within minutes, Engine 20
was on the scene and confirmed ice in the roadway.
Engine 20's crew reported a single vehicle
crash with one person possibly injured. Firefighters quickly started
assessing that persons injuries. Meanwhile, medics with Hamilton County EMS
were arriving on the scene. Medics and firefighters packaged and loaded the
patient into an ambulance. The patient was believed to have minor injuries
and was taken by Hamilton County EMS to Memorial Hospital.
The crash was believed to be a result of
the car skidding on ice, spinning around and colliding head on with the side
of the mountain. City of Chattanooga Police are investigating.
