CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Saturday, January 14,2012 - 12:00 pm - Rescue crews with
the City of Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS were
dispatched to a crash on Interstate 24 Eastbound at the 27 Split. When crews
arrived on the scene they reported an overturned semi tractor trailer,
blocking all of the Eastbound lanes. The driver was quickly freed from the
wreckage and loaded into an ambulance. Hamilton County EMS rushed the driver
to Erlanger Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, City of Chattanooga Police called
for large wreckers to clean up the wreckage. Doug Yates Wrecker Service was
quickly dispatched to the scene. Within minutes one of the first wreckers
was on the scene. Crews quickly went to work cleaning up the debris and
preparing to upright the wreckage. Doug Yates Wrecker Service had to lift 2
large coils of metal out of the roadway and onto a flatbed before they could
upright the truck.
The entire operation and cleanup was
complete within three hours. The exact cause of the crash is still under
investigation by the City Of Chattanooga Police.
