RINGGOLD, Georgia - Sunday, July 6,2008 - 8:00 pm - Ringgold/Catoosa County
firefighters were alerted of a horse trapped in a trailer on Highway 151
near the intersection of Lafayette Road. Fire crews quickly responded to the
scene and found a horse had fallen down inside a trailer while it was in
motion. The horse had it's legs trapped and tangled in the divider gate
between the front horses and the rear horses.
With time being an important factor crews had
to work very quickly to save the horse from further injury. Firefighters
used the Jaws-Of-Life to cut the gate and free the horse. Within thirty
minutes the horse was free. All three of the other horses were also
uninjured. The horse that was trapped did sustain some minor injuries, but
it is believed that he will recover.
A woman traveling with the horses was
injured while trying to help, prior to the arrival of the fire department.
However she was treated at the scene by medics with Hutcheson EMS.
