Crash On Barton Avenue Takes Out A Power Pole

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Saturday, July 18,2009 - 3:00 pm - Emergency crews with City of Chattanooga Engine 12 and Hamilton County EMS, Medic 6, were dispatched to an accident with possible injuries on Barton Avenue, near McFarland Avenue. When rescuers arrived on the scene they reported a single car crash with a power pole down and power lines across the road. Crews were rather surprised to fined that although there was some serious damage to the power pole and the car, both the driver and the passenger were uninjured.

Firefighters quickly blocked Barton Avenue and rerouted traffic with the assistance o the City Of Chattanooga Police. Crews with the Electric Power Board were called to the scene to deal with the pole and power lines. Meanwhile, City of Chattanooga Police officers started their report and investigation into how the crash occurred. At this time the exact cause has not yet been determined, however the car did have Georgia tags and witnesses said the driver may not have been familiar with the area.
