DADE COUNTY, Georgia - Tuesday, August 23,2011 - 12:09 am - North Dade
County Firefighters and Trenton Firefighters were alerted of a possible
residential structure fire on old Birmingham Highway, just off of Highway
11. Within just minutes, The first fire unit was on the scene, North Dade
Engine 4, reporting a fully involved single story residential structure.
Under the direction of Assistant Chief Chris Lowrance, an inch and 3/4
primary attack line was pulled from the engine to gain an initial knockdown
on the blaze.The 9-1-1 dispatchers
were unclear as to if anyone was in the structure at the time of the fire.
The North Dade Fire crew snapped into action making an amazing knockdown
while also establishing a primary water supply from a nearby fire hydrant.
In short order, a second North Dade Fire unit arrived on the scene. Captain
John Pangle quickly took over the primary attack, gaining a significant
knockdown within minutes.
Shortly there after, Trenton Fire
Department arrived on the scene with three additional units. Joining in the
attack, crews were able to bring the fire under control and completely
extinguish it. Crews had the fire completely out in just a little over 2
hours. Luckily crews did determine nobody was in the house at the time of
the fire and no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
Dade County Sheriffs Officers and medics
with Angel EMS assisted at the scene. The exact cause of the fire is still
under investigation.
