CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Tuesday, July 26,2011 - 3:30 pm - City of Chattanooga
Fire Department and Medics with Hamilton County EMS responded to a reported
accident with injuries and entrapment in the 3400 Block of Amnicola Highway.
When rescuers arrived on the scene they reported a vehicle had collided head
on with a gas island at the Raceway Gas Station, Entrapping the driver.
Firefighters quickly went to work extricating the female driver that was
seriously injuredLuckily, the
actual gas pump was not damaged in the crash, the large steel poles had
taken the impact of the crash. However, emergency crews did take extra steps
as a precaution to protect the patient, rescuers and bystanders.
Firefighters were able to free the woman in short order and load her into an
ambulance. Hamilton County Medics rushed her to Erlanger Medical Center.
The cause of the crash is still under
investigation by the City Of Chattanooga Police.
