DADE COUNTY, Georgia - Monday, May 24,2010 - 5:30pm - North Dade
County Firefighters and Medics with Life Guard EMS were dispatched to a
crash with possible entrapment on Interstate 24 Eastbound near Mile Marker
169. When the first units arrived on the scene they quickly reported no
entrapment, however they also reported a car had been struck by a tractor
trailer. The woman driver of the car was already out of the vehicle laying
in the median and was injured.
Rescuers quickly worked to package the woman and load her into an ambulance.
The woman was transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga with
non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi was uninjured in the
crash.
The semi driver was not on the scene when
rescuers first arrived, however he did return with his truck just moments
later. The driver stated he wasn't sure what happen and didn't realize he
had struck a car. Witnesses at the scene said the rear of the trailer
completely ran the car over. Georgia State Patrol is investigating the
crash.
