CATOOSA COUNTY, Georgia - Sunday, June 1,2008 - 5:45 pm - Fort Oglethorpe
and Catoosa County Firefighters responded to a reported house fire on Karen
Drive off of Scruggs Road. When the first fire unit arrived on the scene,
they reported a residential structure with heavy involvement. Firefighters
quickly pulled an inch and ¾ hose line and started a primary attack. Within
seconds the fire was through the roof and crews quickly turned to a
defensive attack.
Within minutes, several companies were on the scene assisting with the fire
attack. The home was determined to be vacant and firefighters had been to
the same house previously on another fire. Crews worked for over an hour to
bring the blaze under control, luckily nobody was injured in the fire. The
house was totally destroyed by the blaze. The exact cause of the fire is
still under investigation.
