DADE COUNTY, Georgia - Thursday, June 12,2008 - 6:00 pm - West Brow Fire
Department, located on Lookout Mountain in north Georgia, hosted a drill at
Covenant College’s Dorm. Several North Dade County Firefighters also
participated in the drill. Crews prepared for a fire with victims on several
floors and types of obstacles.
Mock patients were positioned on several floors with a variety of injuries
allowing crews to do full searches of the floors looking for them. During
the exercise several additional obstacles were also brought into play, such
as stairways being blocked and partial collapses. Crews also used West Brows
Ariel Truck to rescue several patients.
After the drill was done, all the firefighters said it was a great success.
Crews were able to learn a lot and get a lot of practice with search and
rescue. Crews also got well need training with aerial rescues.
