Fire causes significant damage to a house in the Dallas Bay area this
morning. At 9:00 am, a neighbor calls 9-1-1 reporting a house fire at 7738
Gann Road. Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the
scene reporting fully involved house fire. Dallas Bay immediately put out a
mutual aid response on this fire. Red Bank and Soddy Daisy Fire Department
responded to assist Dallas Bay VFD. Fire personnel were able to contain the
fire to the back bedroom. The children's bedroom received significant smoke
damage. The homeowner, Murcus Rutherford, reported he has just left for work
at 8:30 am and at 9:00 am his next door neighbor called to inform him his
house was on fire. Rutherford does have insurance and will be staying with
family members. Damages estimated at $70,000. No injuries were reported but
Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for potential injuries. No one was home
when the fire occurred. The cause of the fire is undetermined but will be
under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department. Dallas Bay
VFD was assisted by Red Bank Fire Department, Soddy Daisy Fire Department,
HCEMS and Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.
