CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Tuesday, May 12,2009 - 5:45 pm - Emergency crews with
the City of Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS were
dispatched to a roll over crash in the 3900 block of Cummings Highway
near Interstate 24. When medics with Hamilton County EMS arrived on the
scene they reported a van on it's side in a ditch, at the intersection of
Cummings Highway and West End Avenue, with one person still inside.
Within minutes, City of Chattanooga Engine 20
arrived on the scene and firefighters quickly started assisting medics in
extricating the man that was still in the van. The mans condition was
believed to be rather serious. Crews were able to free him in minutes and
immediately loaded him into an ambulance. Medics rushed him to Erlanger
Medical Center in Chattanooga.
The cause of the crash is still under
investigation by the City of Chattanooga Police Department. Traffic did have
to be rerouted while crews worked the scene.
