HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn - Sunday, February 22,2009 - 3:45 pm - Dallas Bay
Volunteer Fire Department was alerted of a structure fire at 7302 Meachem
Lane, in the Middle Valley Community. Within minutes, several units were
responding to the scene. The first arriving engine company quickly confirmed
a heavily involved residential structure. Firefighters set up command and
called for Mutual aid assistance from Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department and
the Red Bank Fire Department.
Firefighters immediately pulled an inch and 3/4 hose line and started a
primary attack on the blaze. seconds later several additional companies
arrived on the scene, bringing additional man power. Crews rapidly joined
the fire attack with additional hose lines. With flames already venting
through the roof, crews had a difficult task of gaining the upper hand on
the fire. However, training and experience kicked in as crews quickly showed
the blaze who was in charge.
Three adults were at home when the fire
broke out, luckily they were all able to escape the home without injury.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control after about 45
minutes, unfortunately the fire had already caused heavy damage to the
structure. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
