CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Saturday, June 25,2011 - 10:30 pm -City Of Chattanooga
Firefighters and medics with Hamilton County EMS responded to a crash on
Interstate 24 Westbound at the Dodd's Avenue overpass. When emergency crews
arrived on the scene they reported a semi tractor trailer loaded with beer
had turned over, blocking all the westbound lanes. They also advised the two
people in the truck were injured, however their injuries were believed
minor.Arriving rescuers also
quickly realized they would need large wreckers and crews to clean up and up
right the wreckage. Doug Yates Wrecker Service was immediately called to
assist. Meanwhile EMS crews transported the driver and co-driver to Erlanger
Medical Center. Luckily no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Yates Wrecker Service was on the scene in
short order and quickly tried to go to work cleaning up the mess, however
they were quickly stopped while City Of Chattanooga Firefighter determined
the magnitude of the hazards from the beer. Wrecker crews were able to start
cleaning up the wreckage shortly after midnight. The roadway was finally
totally restored just before 3:00 am. The cause of the crash is still under
investigation by the City of Chattanooga Police.
