REND BANK, Tenn - Friday, June 10,2011 - 3:30 pm - Red Bank Fire Department
was alerted of a fire at the Red Bank United Methodist Church on Dayton
Boulevard. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene and found flames
shooting from the roof of the Gymnasium. Crews quickly started battling the
blaze and immediately started calling for assistance from other ire
departments. Numerous additional fire crews responded to the scene to assist
with fire suppression. The fire was said to have been started by a lightning
strike, however that is still under investigation. The fire was brought
under control in about two hours. However the gymnasium did sustain about
$35,000 dollars damage. The assisting fire crews were from Tennessee and
Georgia.
