DALTON, Georgia - Wednesday, October 29,2008 - 6:45pm - Dalton Fire
Department dispatched several engine companies to a reported apartment fire
at the Maddox Apartments, just off of Underwood Road. When the first crew
arrived on the scene they reported heavy fire coming from on apartment and
heavy smoke from the neighboring apartment.
Firefighters quickly pulled several inch and
3/4 hose lines and started an aggressive attack on the blaze. Several
additional engine companies and crews arrived on the scene in short order.
Within minutes, firefighters gained the upper hand and quickly there after
brought the fire under control.
Firefighters were able to knock the fire
down before it could travel throughout the entire structure, saving several
apartments and numerous dollars in valuables. The cause of the fire is still
under investigation. The American Red Cross was called to the scene to help
the families that needed assistance.
