EAST RIDGE, Tennessee - Sunday, November 2,2008 - 2:00 am - East Ridge
Police Officers were called to a possible fight in progress behind the East
Ridge Flea Market on Ringgold Road, near Interstate 75. Before officers
could arrive on the scene, addition reports came in describing a motor
vehicle accident with injuries in the same location. East Ridge Fire
Department and Medics with Life Guard EMS were dispatched to the scene with
police officers.When crews arrived
on the scene they found a full size white van partially off an embankment
with the injured driver inside. Crews also found another man trapped under
the van, unfortunately that man had received fatal injuries in the crash and
was pronounced dead. Rescuers quickly loaded the injured driver into a Life
Guard ambulance. Medics rushed him to the hospital with non-life threatening
injuries.
Witnesses at the scene said the
confrontation occurred over a woman that was married to the man driving the
white van. Witnesses said the man, who had arrived in a red pickup truck,
was calling the man in the white truck out over a belief that the man in the
white truck had been abusing his wife. The confrontation quickly went south
and the man in the white van ended up running the man in the red truck over.
However, East Ridge Police are investigating and say charges are pending.
