DADE COUNTY, Georgia - November 19,2008 - 2:30 am - New Home, and North Dade
Fire Crews were alerted of a structure fire on West Brook Lane. With in
seconds, the first fire unit was in route and several there after. New Home
Engine 6 was first on the scene and reported a fully involved residential
structure. Establishing command and immediately calling for additional
resources from the Trenton Fire Department. Firefighters quickly pulled two
inch and 3/4 hose line and started a primary attack.
The two initial hand lines were used to stop
the fire from spreading to nearby exposures. With in seconds additional man
power and equipment arrived on the scene. A tanker water supply was set up
and crews then started to work on knocking down the blaze. The fire had
already consumed most of the structure, causing an entire collapse, so there
was no opportunity for any interior attack. However the crews did gain a
fairly quick knock down on the bulk of the fire in a rather short time.
Firefighters were able to completely
extinguish all the hot spots after about three hours. Unfortunately the
structure was a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under
investigation. The home owners were at home when the fire broke out, but
they were able to get out before the home was fully involved. One of the
occupants did receive some minor injuries, but was treated at the scene by
medics with Hutcheson EMS.
