CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Wednesday, November 4,2009 - 8:00 am - Emergency crews
with the City Of Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS rushed
to a reported semi truck crash on Interstate 75 Northbound at the Interstate
24 split. When rescuers arrived on the scene they quickly determined the
driver of the semi was uninjured, however the tractor trailer was on it's
side off an embankment.The trailer
was fully loaded with bananas and the driver was traveling alone. With the
tractor and trailer on it's side off the embankment, police officers had to
immediately call for large recovery wreckers to work the scene. Doug Yates
Wrecker Service was called to the scene in short order to start clearing the
wreckage and debris.
After bringing the loaded semi back up the
embankment, crews had the task of up righting the loaded trailer without the
side walls of the trailer splitting. The wrecker crew used a combination
wrecker and air bag approach to up right the trailer. The Yates crew brought
the wreckage back to it's wheels with ease and accuracy.
After the semi was on its wheels, workers
spent several additional hours hand unloading the trail so it could be
towed. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the City of
Chattanooga Police.
