CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Monday, November 23, 2009 - 11:00 am - Emergency crews
with the City of Chattanooga Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS
responded to a reported crash involving a cement mixer that had rolled over
on Scenic Highway at Old Wahatchie Pike. Additional information reported the
driver was trapped inside the cab of the truck.
Within minutes, the first rescue crew arrived
on the scene and confirmed the driver was still inside the cab. Crews
immediately started working to cut the driver out of the cab. In short order
the driver was freed from the wreckage and weirdly enough he only had minor
injuries, he even refused to be transported to the hospital.
The crash did shut down the roadway due to
the wreckage and the cement debris that was scattered all over the roadway.
City of Chattanooga Police Officers called for a large wrecker and crew to
clean up the mess. Doug Yates Wrecker Service was immediately called to the
scene to handle the situation.
Doug Yates Wrecker Service arrived in
short order and quickly went to work, within minutes the truck was back up
right and just a short time latter the roadway was all cleaned up. The cause
of the crash is still under investigation by the City of Chattanooga Police
Department.
