DADE COUNTY, Georgia - Monday, September 5,2011 - 1:30 am - Trenton Fire
Department was dispatched to a possible house fire on Austin Drive, just off
of Mckaig Loop In Trenton. South Dade Firefighters and Davis Firefighters
were also dispatched as automatic aid. Within minutes, the first Trenton
fire unit was on the scene reporting a fully involved residential structure
with flames blowing through the roof.
Crews quickly started pulling multiple inch
and 3/4 hose lines off the engine and started a primary defensive attach on
the blaze. Meanwhile, several additional units were arriving on the scene
and establishing a tanker water supply for the fire attack. The fire had a
significant head start on the fire crews and therefore had consumed a large
portion of the structure already.
Firefighters were able to gain control of
the blaze rather quickly, with total extinguishment in sight. Unfortunately
the structure was a total loss. The cause is still under investigation.
