CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Tuesday, October 21,2008 - Several large wreckers with
Yates Wrecker Service were used to pull down a wall at the old Combustion
complex on Riverfront Parkway. This would usually seem like just another day
in the world of demolition. However when the wall weighs over a million
pounds and is several feet thick it becomes a little bit more of a task then
just parking a car at the local mall.
Crews worked for several hours to prepare the
wall to come down in just the perfect direction and manor. The large, thick
wall was only inches from another structure and serious concern was taken to
keep from causing damage to that structure. However just after 3:45 Tuesday
afternoon the wall came down. Like clock work the wall hit the ground
without any glitch or unforeseen problem.
