MARION COUNTY, Tenn - Tuesday, August 19,2008 - 2:30 am - Firefighters with
the North Dade Fire Department and the Haletown Fire Department were
dispatched to an accident involving two semi trucks on Interstate 24
Eastbound at the Tennessee/ Georgia State Line. The first fire units to
arrive on the scene were North Dade Rescue 4 and North Dade Battalion 41.
The North Dade units quickly advised they had
one semi on it's side and another semi had crash through the middle of the
first one. Both drivers were seriously injured and crews called for an air
ambulance. Rescuers packaged and prepared the patients for the medi-vac
unit. Within minutes, the Life Force Helicopter was on the ground and crews
loaded the patients.
Interstate 24 near the 165 mm was blocked
by the crash for several hours. The cause of the crash is still under
investigation by Tennessee Highway Patrol Officers.
