Tri Community VFD Works Rollover With Ejection

  HAMILTON COUNTY, TENN – Thursday, August 21, 2008 – Just after 10:00 AM, the Tri Community Volunteer Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS responded to the 8800 block of East Brainerd Road on a reported rollover accident with injuries. On arrival, firefighters and medics found a single vehicle, Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, that had rolled over entirely landing back on its wheels. The vehicle was off the roadway and sitting on a chain link fence. Outside of the vehicle were the female operator and a small child that appeared to be under two years of age.

Emergency workers determined that the small child had been ejected from the vehicle through a window. The child was quickly packaged and transported to T. C. Thompson Children’s Hospital emergency traffic by Medic 11. The extent of injury to the child is unknown at this time. The driver of the vehicle did not appear to be injured by did accompany her child to the hospital.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. East Brainerd Road was closed by the Sheriff’s Department while the investigation was conducted.
