HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn - Sunday, August 17,2008 - 5:20 pm - Highway 58
Volunteer Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at 6919 Savannah
Estates Drive. When the first company arrived on the scene they reported
heavy fire and smoke showing from a residential wood frame structure.
Firefighters quickly pulled an inch and 3/4 hose line and started a primary
attack on the fire.Within minutes,
several additional engine companies arrived and started assisting with the
fire attack. Two additional inch and 3/4 hose lines as well as a 3 inch hose
line were put in service. Crews attacked the fire from both sides and
rapidly started gaining the upper hand on the blaze. Unfortunately the fire
was traveling in the open attic area and making it difficult to suppress.
After about 45 minutes the fire was
under control and crews were switching into an overhaul mode. During the
fire attack, several firefighters were checked by EMS crews just as a
precaution due to the heat and temperature outside. No other injuries were
reported as a result of the fire.
The home owner was not at home at the time
of the fire. However the Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the
family. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
