CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Tuesday, August 26,2008 - 8:00 am - City Of Chattanooga
Firefighters and Hamilton County EMS crews responded to an accident on
Interstate 75 Northbound at the I-24 split. When rescuers arrived on the
scene they reported a semi truck had rolled off an embankment on it's side.
Luckily the driver was uninjured in the crash.
Police officers and emergency crews quickly
decided, that due to the heavy rain and hazardous conditions it would be
more feasible to wait until afternoon rush hour traffic was over before
trying to remove the wreckage. The wreckage did however cause a large number
of 9-1-1 calls through out the day.
Shortly after 7:30 pm that evening, crews
with Doug Yates Wrecker service arrived on the scene and started removing
the wreckage. Using only the emergency lane and one travel lane, wrecker
crews were able to upright the truck and remove all the debris by 10:00 pm.
