Around 1:30pm today East Ridge Police and Fire/Rescue responded to the
parking lot of Regions Bank located at 4334 Ringgold Road after a 911 call
about a motor vehicle crash.
East Ridge Public Safety PIO Erik Hopkins says the first emergency personnel
arrived on scene in just one minute to find a Dodge Colt had struck a parked
Chevrolet Suburban. First responders and bystanders were able to pull the
driver of the Dodge Colt from the vehicle and immediately began CPR, however
the victim died at the scene.
East Ridge Police traffic investigators also responded to the scene to
collect evidence that may be present. Based on the initial investigation it
appears the victim had suffered a medical emergency while traveling south on
S. Moore Road. The vehicle passed through the intersection of S. Moore Road
and Ringgold Road before striking the unoccupied Suburban in the parking
lot. Hopkins says drivers name is being withheld pending the notification of
the family. |
