TRENTON, Georgia - April 6,2010 - 10:00pm - Trenton Fire Department was
alerted of a car fire in front of a home on North Highway 11. Within
minutes, crews from Trenton Fire Department were responding, meanwhile
police officers on the scene were reporting the car fully involved, with
some small explosions. The explosions were quickly determined to be the
tires blowing out from the intense heat.
First fire unit on the scene was the Trenton
Fire Chief, he quickly set up command and confirmed heavy involvement to a
small car. Next in was Trenton Engine 10, arriving on the scene.
Firefighters quickly pulled an inch and 3/4 hose line and started a primary
attack on the fire. Within just seconds of the firefighter opening the hose
line to flow water, the attack crew had a knock down on the fire.
Crews worked for about another 45 minutes
cooling hot spots and making sure it cold not rekindle. The exact cause of
the fire is still under investigation. Trenton Police and Dade County
Sheriffs Officers assisted with traffic on the scene.
