CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Saturday, December 8,2007 - 11:15 pm - A flat bed semi
tractor trailer hauling roughly 23 tons of rock was traveling southbound on
Highway 153 at the Interstate 75 split when the truck crashed spilling rock
across all of the southbound lanes of travel. The driver said that a pickup
truck had cut him off in the curve on the southbound interchange ramp.
Fortunately, there was evidence of the pickup truck on the semi's front
bumper, however the pickup truck did not stop.
Luckily there were no injuries in connection
with the crash, but the City of Chattanooga Fire Department did respond to
the scene for safety and to assist with possible leaks. Several other
vehicles were damage by rocks and debris during the crash. City of
Chattanooga Police are continuing their investigation.
Several skid loaders and bobcats assisted
with the clean up while Doug Yates Wrecker service up righted the wrecked
semi. All lanes were finally reopened just after 2:00 am Sunday morning.
