HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn - Monday, December 22,2008 - 12:00 pm - Emergency
crews rushed to a crash on Highway 58 near Harrison Bay. When Highway 58
Firefighters arrived on the scene they reported a semi tractor trailer
overturned in the roadway and landfill trash spread across several lanes.
Fortunately, the driver was uninjured in the crash. Firefighters did call
for a hazmat team for leaking fluids from the cab of the truck. Within
minutes, Hamilton County Hazmat team arrived and quickly stopped the spread
of diesel fuel.
Hamilton County Sheriffs officers shut down all but one lane in each
direction due to the scattered debris. Meanwhile, officers also called for a
recovery crew. Yates Wrecker Service was immediately called to the scene.
Moments later, large wreckers and recovery equipment from Doug Yates Wrecker
Service arrived on the scene. Crews quickly started to clean up the debris
from the lanes of travel. After about 45 minutes the crews were ready to
upright the tractor trailer.
After the semi was up righted, crews finished cleaning up the rest of the
debris. Just a little more than two hours after the crews started, the
roadway and wreckage was completely clear. The exact cause of the crash is
still under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriffs Departments.
