HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn - Sunday, February 3,2007 - 6:15 am - Firefighters with the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and medics with Hamilton County EMS were dispatched to an accident with injuries and entrapment in the 9800 block of East Brainerd Road. Dispatch also advised the responding units that the 9-1-1 caller had reported one possible fatality.

Within minutes the first crew was on the scene and confirmed one fatality. However they also reported another person critically injured and seriously trapped. The firefighters quickly requested the Life Force air ambulance from Erlanger Medical Center.

Firefighters worked quickly to free the trapped man from the wreckage. Meanwhile the air ambulance was landed about a mile away in a Bi-Lo grocery market parking lot. As the man was freed he was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to the temporary landing zone. The man was flown to Erlanger Medical Center in critical condition.

The exact cause of the crash is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriffs Department, however speed is believed to be a factor. The young woman that was fatally injured was identified as 17-year-old Lee Meredith Birmingham.
