CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Monday, March 8,2010 - 2:35 pm - Rescuers with City Of
Chattanooga Fire Department Squad 1 and Hamilton County EMS responded to an
accident with reported injuries on 11th Street in front of Chattanooga City
hall. City Of Chattanooga Squad 1 was returning from another call and was
just blocks away, they arrived on the scene within seconds of the call and
reported a two vehicle crash with one person injured.
Firefighters quickly started assessing the
persons injuries and preparing that patient for transport to the hospital.
The person injured was the driver of a van, his injuries did not appear life
threatening, however crews did have to place him on a backboard and secure
his neck and spine. The driver of the other vehicle did say she felt some
pain in her back, but refused to be transported to the hospital.
A witness stated the van was turning left
at a stop sign on 11th after stopping, when the car ran the stop sign and
collided with the van, causing the crash. City of Chattanooga Police are
investigating.
