Dade County Fire Crews Respond To Heavy Involvement

DADE COUNTY, Georgia - Monday, February 15,2010 - 7:00 pm - South Dade County Fire Department and the Trenton Fire Department were both dispatched to a possible residential structure fire at 1428 Hatfield Road in the south end of Dade County. When the first South Dade County Fire unit arrived on the scene, they reported heavy involvement to the south end of the single story residential structure.

Firefighters had to quickly pull hose lines up a long narrow drive way to make access to the fire. Within seconds crews were making a primary attack on the raging fire. Meanwhile several additional units from South Dade and Trenton were arriving on the scene. Numerous additional hands were joining in the fire attack that was obviously making a very quick knockdown.

Freezing temperatures and heavy snow showers did not seem to hamper the attack by the dedicated firefighters, unfortunately the fire had a large head start and even though crews made an amazing stop on the blaze it had already destroyed the family home.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire, however they did arrived while crews were extinguishing the remaining hot embers. The cause of the fire is not exactly know, but is under investigation by fire officials. Dade County Sheriffs Officers and Medics with Life Guard EMS both assisted on the scene. Fortunately nobody was injured as a result of the fire.
