Chattanooga Area Get's Hit With Heavy Snow CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - January 29,2010 - Forecasters had predicted snow fall for several days, However they were only predicting a dusting to 1 inch in the valley areas and North Georgia. By noon time Friday afternoon it was starting to become obvious that they may have made a little mistake. Dade County Georgia and Jasper Tennessee already had a good ground covering and there was no sign of it ending yet. Around 2:00pm Chattanooga started receiving a heavy down fall of sleet, from then on the road conditions quickly went south. The sleet was followed by heavy snowfall and within minutes road became a skating rink. City of Chattanooga Police were quickly overwhelmed. Within just a few hours there were 95 reported crashes. by the time the snow ended Sunday, the entire area was covered with more than 3 inches on snow. Story and photos by Bill Carson
