DADE COUNTY, Georgia - Tuesday, May 4,2010 - 9:40 pm - North Dade Fire
Department was alerted of a vehicle fire on Interstate 59 Northbound just
before the Interstate 24 Split. When North Dade Engine 4 arrived on the
scene they reported a fully involved truck fire. Firefighters quickly pulled
an inch and 3/4 hose line and started putting the fire out. The fire crew
rapidly got the upper hand on the fire. It was almost immediately obvious
the firefighters were getting a quick knock down on the blaze.
The driver and passenger of the truck stated
they were traveling north on interstate 59 when the truck began to act
funny. They said they quickly pulled over and popped the hood, that's when
the driver noticed the motor compartment was on fire. The driver and the
passenger quickly got away from the vehicle and called for help.
The firefighters were able to extinguish
the fire in about 15 minutes. Unfortunately the pickup truck was a total
lose. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. Dade County
Sheriff officers assisted on the scene with traffic control.
