North Georgia Fire Crews Join Together For Training

DADE COUNTY, Georgia - Monday, May 17,2010 - West Brow Volunteer Fire Department set up a multi company training at a local college in an effort to teach and prepare for a real situation. Over 50 volunteers came out for the training from several departments including the West Brow Volunteer Firefighters, North Dade County Volunteer Firefighters and Lookout Mountain Georgia Volunteer Firefighters. The tone of the training was set to a possible fire in one of the 3rd floor rooms of the dorms. A smoke machine was used to simulate the fire and several victims were set in play. Firefighters were split into crews and then sent in to search. Additional crews were sent in to locate the possible fire. This created a good opportunity for training on the command side as well, having multiple operation going on at the same time. Command used the preplans to set the stage for this complex scenario. The training really turned out to be an amazing success due to the fact that crews encountered several obstacles that showed there ugly face. Crews and command both were able to overcome the obstacles and even reached a valuable conclusion that if ever needed they could cope quickly with any unforeseen situation that arose.
