SODDY DAISY, Tenn - Monday, October 12,2009 - 1:30 pm - Emergency crews with
the Soddy Daisy Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS were dispatched to a
reported accident with injuries on Highway 27 Southbound between Sequoyah
Access Road and Thrasher Pike. When units arrived on the scene they reported
a single vehicle crash. The driver said he was uninjured, however medics
with Hamilton County EMS still checked him out as a precaution.
Witnesses at the scene said it was a rather
violent crash. The witnesses said the pickup truck was traveling northbound
when it left the roadway, going through the median once, then returned to
the southbound lanes. The pickup truck was then said to have collided with
the shoulder guardrail in the northbound lanes. After which the pickup truck
creamed through the median again just missing several other vehicles and
colliding head on with the shoulder guardrail on the southbound side.
Soddy Daisy Police are investigating the
crash and attempting to determine what caused this chain of events.
