WALKER COUNTY, Georgia - Friday, September 25,2009 - 7:30 pm - Walker County
Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a reported accident with entrapment
on Salem Road, just off of Wilson Road. When the first unit arrived on the
scene they quickly confirmed entrapment and also reported one person with
very serious injuries. Rescuers immediately started setting up to extricate
the trapped person from the vehicle.
Within minutes, several additional rescue
crews arrived on the scene and in short order they were able to free the
trapped person. That person was quickly loaded into a Walker County
Ambulance and rushed to Erlanger Medical Center's Trauma Unit. A second
person that was not trapped was also transported to the hospital by another
Walker County Ambulance. A third person was said to have been in the car
however that person was uninjured in the crash.
A witness at the scene said that speed may
have been a factor in the crash, however the Georgia State Patrol is
investigating.
