DADE COUNTY, Georgia - Sunday, September 26,2010 - 12:30 pm - North Dade
Fire Department, Trenton Fire Department and Life Guard EMS were dispatched
to an accident with entrapment and rollover on I-24 Eastbound between the
Interstate 59 split an exit 169. Almost immediately several emergency crews
were responding, however the first to arrive on scene was the Life Guard
medic unit. In short order behind them, a Trenton fire unit arrived on scene
and reported a vehicle on its side in the median.
Both the driver and passenger had climbed out
of the wreckage. Both were walking and appeared alert, however the passenger
appeared to be very shaken. Both of them also had several minor scraps and
bruises. In any case they also refused to be transported to the hospital.
Medics did check both of them out before allowing them to sign a refusal.
The driver and passenger are husband and wife and were traveling from
Alabama to Chattanooga.
A witness at the scene said the SUV
flipped several times before landing on it's side. The witness said she was
not exactly sure why the SUV left the roadway just prior to flipping.
Georgia state Patrol is investigating the crash.
