TRENTON, Georgia - Friday, September 24,2010 - 7:30 am - Trenton Fire
Department and medics with Life Guard EMS were dispatched to a accident
involving a roll over with injuries and possible entrapment on Interstate 59
Northbound, just north of the 11 Mile Marker. When the first unit arrived on
the scene, a Life Guard medic unit, they reported 4 people injured and one
still entrapped. They also requested a second medic unit for assistance.
In short order, Trenton Rescue 1 arrived on
the scene and quickly started extricating the one person that was still
trapped. Another one of the patients had been ejected during the roll over
and landed in the middle of the median. In all, one of the patients was
critically injured, two were seriously injured and one had what was believed
to be minor injuries. all four patients were packaged and loaded into
ambulances and rushed to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
Witnesses said they believed a tire on the
Explorer had blown out causing the driver to loss control. The vehicle then
flipped several times before it came to rest on its wheels. Trenton Police
and the Dade County Sheriffs Department are investigating the crash.
