CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Saturday, September 11,2010 - 1:45 pm - City Of
Chattanooga Firefighters and Medics with Hamilton County EMS were dispatched
with City Of Chattanooga Police Officers to a motor Vehicle Crash on
Interstate 24 Westbound, just past the Cummings Road Overpass. Within
Minutes, several units were on the scene and reported a vehicle had collided
with a large truck and was underneath the rear end of the truck. They also
reported one woman still in the car with very serious injuries.
Emergency crews quickly started working to
free the woman from the wreckage. In short order, crews were able to
extricate the woman from the passenger side of the car. She was then
packaged and loaded into a Hamilton County Ambulance. Medics rushed the
woman to Erlanger Medical Center with very serious injuries. There was
nobody else reported to have been in the vehicle with the woman and the
truck driver was said to have been uninjured in the crash.
Witnesses at the scene said the woman
crashed into the back of the truck when it slowed down for slower traffic in
front of him. Witnesses said the woman unfortunately could not get slowed
down. City Of Chattanooga Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
