CHATTANOOGA, Tenn - Monday, October 15,2007 - 6:00 pm - A City of
Chattanooga Police Officer rolled up on the scene of a crash just as it was
being called in. The officer reported several vehicles involved in a head on
crash on Highway 58 at Rocky River Road. The officer also reported the crash
was serious and blocking nearly all of the north and southbound lanes.
City Of Chattanooga Quint 6 and Hamilton
County Medic 3 were dispatched to the scene of the crash. Rescuers arrived
on the scene within minutes and quickly started assessing the occupants.
Heavy damage to three of the vehicles left crews stunned that only one
person received some minor injuries. That man was packaged and loaded into
an ambulance. He was transported to Erlanger Medical Center.
Witnesses said that a pickup truck, that
was traveling north on Highway 58, was waiting in the turn lane when a
southbound mini van struck the pickup truck head on. The pickup truck spun
around and struck another northbound pickup head on. Witnesses said the
second pickup truck bounced into a PT Cruiser.
Witnesses said that the sun was right in
the eyes of the southbound drivers at that time of day and it may have
contributed to the crash. City of Chattanooga Police are investigating.
