"THE CAPTURE"

Around 8:00 pm this evening, the search was over for Jerry Williams Jones. The chase ended in the 5500 block of Ringgold Road in East Ridge Tennessee.

Officer Jason Davis, with the Georgia Highway Patrol, ended the chase with what he described as a perfect "PIT MANEUVER". That is when a police officer taps the rear quarter panel of a vehicle with their vehicle, spinning them out.

The three girls were unharmed but the suspect Jerry William Jones had a self inflicted gunshot wound to his face. Although some witnesses feel that the gunshot wound was inflicted accidentally during the collision.

Officer Jason Davis said the little girl that he rescued from the vehicle told him as he carried her to safety "I don't like it when my daddy drives".

All three girls were transported to Erlanger's T. C. Thompson Children's Hospital for examination and then released to the Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services.

The suspect Jerry William Jones was transported to Erlanger Medical Center by a Life Force helicopter in critical condition. He is expected to live and stand trial after he is extradited back to Whitfield County, Georgia.

A special thanks goes out to Jason Davis with the Georgia Highway Patrol and all the other police departments and brave police officers that captured this suspect.
